“Old Fashioned Hospitality at its very very Best”

Date of review: 25 May 2011
Foleys in Kenmare is the epitome of hospitality of a bygone age. We were only there for 4 nights , but felt part of the family . That might sound a bit over the top , but the service food ,cleanliness and friendliness of the owners and staff is second to none. I wish the Foley family the best of luck and success in the future .I cant remember the ladies name but I know she was the owners mother, if you ever needed a definition of the word Lady this lady is it. . Patrick , John , Elaine and the best character behind any bar Ive ever been to PETER, a pure gent and a great bit of craic. If in Kenmare eat drink and have the craic in Foleys, you wont be disappointed

There I was, at Foleys front door, and it was as though relatives were exspecting us!”

Need I say more! Honestly I had never been more pleasantly greeted in the first five minutes of my arrival anywhere! After venturing through East and West of Canada, in and out of many parts of both the United States and even central Europe for the last 20 years, for me.......... FOLEYS ( in Kenmare) got it right!!! There was a warm hearth in seemingly every corner and THE MAIN RESTAURANT AND PUB was so true to its irish roots.THE INNS ROOMS were large and spacious with colourful Kenmare shop fronts views.THE MENU was overflowing with local fare and Irish recipes that literaly brought tears to our eyes as we enjoyed our meal after a long day in the mountains! The air was thick with pints of ale and the ambiance charming and comfortable. THE STAFF (a family run establishment) did not stop! These guys were on their feet from early morning and on into the wee hours every day! Never saw such hard working people. So do hear me when I say 'IF YOU WANT AUTHENTIC IRISH HOSPITALITY, FOLEYS IS YOUR NEXT DESTINATION! Cheers to all of you at Foleys! Thanks so much Patrick! I guarantee you I will be back!

The best!”

I expected a casual and comfortable guesthouse but was pleasantly surprised by the first class accomodations and the amazing food. The room was like an urban boutique hotel, spacious and nicely decorated. After we settled into our room we headed downstairs to get a bite to eat. The food was delicious and the menu choices were beyond ordinary. I wanted to try everything! After dinner there was entertainment in the pub and the dinner crowd hung around and enjoyed some singing, dancing and humor. It was a most memorable and enjoyable stay. I only wished we could have stayed longer!!

The food at Foley's....superb, wonderful, delicious.”

Forget telling you how wonderful the stay was at Foley's. Let's talk food. We traveled extensively in Ireland and sampled traditional Irish foods but it wasn't until we ate at Foley's that we had tasted the best. We could not get enough. Every bite was a taste sensation. The best was the Kerry Beef in Guinness w/pastry and colcannon. Don't bother going anywhere else for food. Foley's gets two enthusiastic thumbs up from us.

“beautiful rooms, great breakfast and awesome food in the pub downstairs!”
We stayed one night in Kenmare on our way around Ireland, but wished we had stayed in this place for more nights as it was great. The bedroom was lovely, new bathroom, great mattress and very spacious. The Pub downstairs was not at all noisy to sleep (it was a sunday night) and they did great Kenmare Bay Salmon - best I've ever had!! The breakfast the next morning was also excellent.
Would definitely stay here again - my advice, stay for a few nights

“Luxurious home from home we stayed in one of Foleys, 4 bedroom detached houses in Ard Mullen in Kenmare. This beautiful, spacious, well equipped house was a real home from home. The view of the mountains from the lounge window was a much needed relaxing tonic. The house itself is a short drive from the town and you can certainly walk into town if you prefeer. I had a few queries, how things worked etc., and it was never a problem to ring the owner, Pat. He was very friendly, polite and courteous at all times. Kenmare is a beautiful town and is the perfect base for touring. If we are going to Kerry again, Foley's self catering will be our first choice.
“A very good and well known adress in Kenmare

Our recent stay at Foleys could not have been better. The staff, kitchen and our room were the best and we will rebook on any subsequent visit.

This was a great room and the staff was very helpful and accomadating. We had to leave early for the Ring of Kerry and the chef brought up a tray of breakfast goodies without us asking! Very nice folks.
